I am so glad you stopped by today!
I’d like to start off by saying, “Hi”. I’m a fiction writer by the name of Daysha Devine and soon to be self-published author. If you haven’t guessed it by now, I love writing. Most importantly though, I love writing stories. Currently I live in Kansas City, Missouri home of the Kansas City Royals better known as the winners of the 2015 World Series!
I’ve lived in Kansas City, Missouri my whole life. I was raised in South Kansas City, but I have also lived in East KC. I’ve seen two different sides of diverse lifestyles from this and gained some very interesting experiences from this.
I am an only child and as you can imagine not having siblings was a bit lonely. Imagination was everything to me. I always enjoyed reading because it opened up different worlds and I got to meet new people.
I attended all Center School District Schools and am a proud graduate of Center High School. I met my now husband back in ’97 at Center Middle School. We didn’t date until after College, we got married and we now have a 2 year old son. Long love story short. I am also a proud graduate of Missouri Western State University.
Enough about me though let’s hop right into an excerpt from my Novella, “The Misadventure of Melody T.” that is set for release this March!
Excerpt from The Misadventure of Melody T. : Tryouts were in the held in the morning and I felt good. When they called my name to come up, I did my little intro cheer into the silent empty room. When I saw the judges seated at that table with Jackie, Miss Long the cheer coach and two other cheerleaders I froze, just complete locked up. Those eyes staring at me, even Miss Long’s big brown eyes, the only one smiling at me when I entered. Suddenly, everything I learned jumped up and ran out my brain. At that point, I started to fake it and make up crap that wasn’t even a part of the routine.
I felt the sweat pooling in my underarms making my shirt wet. Before I had even got to second cheer I forgot the words and was now cheering in my head. When I thought I had finished, I stopped. I saw Miss Long drop her head and Jackie was covering her mouth trying not to laugh out loud. I began to shake. I guess I thought maybe they’d have pity on me, but who was I kidding. As terrible as I did, I shouldn’t have pity on myself. I don’t think Shannon knows exactly what happened in that audition. I was too embarrassed to tell her.
Let me know what you think! Comment below! I look forward to hearing from you guys!
